Conscious Sedation

What is IV Sedation?

When you visit our office for IV Sedation you will be warmly welcomed and you should feel confident that your comfort and safety is our primary concern. Dr. Park has extensive training and experience in the administration of anesthesia. He and his team are all certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and are always with you to monitor your vital signs and keep you comfortable.

Many patients are referred to our office because of Dr. Park's passion and goal in the field and his unique specialty practice providing both surgical and prosthetic care.

Most people are able to have intravenous sedation.

There are some medical conditions that do, however, rule it out as an option. As part of your consultation, the doctor will review your medical history and discuss the different anesthesia options with you.

Intravenous sedation is the administration of a tranquilizer drug into a vein using an extremely thin needle. The sedative used produces, in most people, a very strong feeling of deep relaxation and well-being. Even the most highly anxious individuals can be treated successfully using this technique.

Most people experience either full or partial memory loss of the dental procedures being performed, which most patients love.

With the help of Dr. Park, you won't have to live with an embarrassing smile or any tooth pain. No wonder so many patients say: "Sedation dentistry changed my life."

Oral Sedation Dentistry

A pill will be administered to you, which you will take in our special comfort room or at home, one hour before your visit. Please bring a friend with you to drive you home after your treatment is completed, because you will be very sleepy.

After you arrive, we will make sure you are safe and comfortable and cover you with one of our cozy blankets. A member of our highly skilled team will monitor your vital signs. When you are completely relaxed and ready for care, Dr. Park will provide you with an excellent dental experience.

After your treatment is complete, your friend will take you back home to relax for the rest of the day. You will have little or no memory of your treatment.

Significant dental care, which previously required multiple appointments, can now be performed in a single visit; all while you are in a completely relaxed state.

Sedation dentistry is the perfect alternative for people who have trouble with anesthesia, dental fear or troublesome gag reflexes. It is a very safe way to eliminate the fatigue of extended visits for multiple dental treatments.

How uncomfortable is the recovery?
Most patients report that the discomfort after surgery is minimal and less than they expected. Medications are prescribed to control soreness and most patients wear temporary teeth during the healing period and eat a soft diet.
